Dining Diversity is Back Jan 31st!

Dear SFND Family,

Dining Diversity has returned, and we’re back to our original concept. We’ll be doing regular events throughout the Bay Area, with special guests from different cultures, while we break bread together. For our first event of the series reboot, we’ll be dining at Gerry’s Grill, a Filipino restaurant in Union City (right off 880 at Union Landing). Our guest will be Nika Calderon Carlson, who moved to the US with her mother from the Philippines when she was little. We invite you to come join us in the East Bay at the end of the month.
Here are a few logistical details for dinner:
7 pm on Tuesday, January 31
Gerry’s Grill
31005 Courthouse Dr.
Union City, CA 94587
If you would like to join us, please email Scott Ellingson at scott.ellingson@impaxlabs.com by the end of the day on Sunday, January 29. We need the email RSVP to make sure we have enough space. Dress code is casual, and Yelp rates Gerry’s as $$ for expense level. Parking is plentiful and free. If you are planning on taking BART, the closest stop is Union City. From there you can either Uber/Lyft to the restaurant, or you can contact Scott to see about coordinating a pick up/drop off at the station.

We hope to see you there!

Go Irish!

SFND 2017 Call for Volunteers

It’s a new year. Just as 2017 is a time for many individuals resolve to eat healthier or listen to more podcasts, the Notre Dame Club of San Francisco has a lot of exciting changes coming down the pike. We’ve overhauled our board structure, transitioning to a committee structure. SFND has a lot of goals for 2017, but we cannot accomplish them without dedicated individuals who are willing to volunteer their time.

Check out our Get Involved page for more information on open positions!

Happy New Years everyone!

Universal Notre Dame Night 2015

Come join us for drinks, appetizers and a “State of the University” address by Dolly Duffy, ’84, executive director of the Notre Dame Alumni Association and associate vice president for University Relations.

Wednesday, September 16 @ 6:30pm – 9:30pm PDT

The Terrace Room at Lake Merritt Hotel
1800 Madison Street, Oakland, CA 94612

Event tickets cost $50 per person and include 1 drink, heavy appetizers, and an opportunity to connect with the University and her people via our valued local alumnae guests (you!) and event speaker, Dolly Duffy.

Join us for the 4th Annual Not So Muddy Saturday Volleyball Tournament!

In 2006, a group of volleyball players from Keenan Hall set up a mud volleyball tournament to raise money for the Notre Dame chapter of Habitat for Humanity. Every year in the spring, Keenan Hall transforms the Holy Cross field behind the Grotto into a dozen or so mud pits. It is highly unlikely that we will get the city of San Francisco to let us dig up Golden Gate Park for our one-day escapade so we will be hosting this tournament without the mud.

Support the SFND Club – Adopt-a-Family

The Notre Dame Club of San Francisco has adopted a family for the holiday season! We’ve partnered with San Francisco’s Compass Family Services to bring some extra holiday cheer to a family in need.

This year, SFND has been paired with a family of four: Lisette and Jose, and their children Elaida, age 4, and Saul, age 6. They say they are a “family pursuing happiness” and with your help, we can bring them a little closer this holiday season!
